Hmmm, looks like white mans magic item (electrical). I think it is a voltage regulator without the cover, had one on a 61' Holden.

Do I win?? :D

Ahh, I reckon its a Holden one, it has three coils. The Moke ones only have two.

Wern't they only used with a Generator charging system and not the later Altenator, altough your little wheeler would of had a generator as standard, as it still got one and does it run Positive to earth wiring?

I think it is what we used to call the Holy Box because God only knew what happened in there.
Voltage regulator.

Marty,

It is  Brake or Clutch Master cylinder and you wont know which one unless you pull it apart or put it on the wrong one :)

The plastic extension on the filler screws on and off and allows you to fill it easier.

Yeah I win :)

If true convention had been followed it should be a brake master - the plastic extension being a quick and simple way to allow for more brake fluid without going to the larger "Cooper" master cylinder. But as a 'screw' on accessory they were sometimes fitted to both but not really needed on the Clutch - but did/do make filling easier.

The original reason back then (when introduced in UK) was so you could check fluid level at a glance. People used to fit them in pairs. They never got our Lockheed/PBR ones with the big plastic reservoir and cap. :D

I've heard of these, its a brake/clutch master cylinder with an extention housing attached to the filler hole. I believe the plastic extention was available to increase the fluid capacity.

Jeez you guys were quick! I thought I had that one :o

Still is available - Karcraft stock them along with most parts suppliers
