LED Californian Tail lights
« on: April 03, 2008, 10:45:07 AM »
Hi,

Narva Automotive has an LED stop/tail/indicator that has similar dimensions and look to the original Californian 1977-1982 square light that would not look out of place on a Moke. There was one being shown after the MOA meeting last night and it looked pretty darn good.

I have checked the online catalogue for Narva.com.au and it is not shown there but it can be ordered, perhaps Mr Spotty can get a picture and supply them.

They are known as Model 34.

Yes I noticed them in the new catalogue. They are available now and are $45each. I will try and scan an image and get it up here. They are part of Narva's new LED range, they have some nice new toys :)

Google is your friend... I'm guessing the image at the top is them?

They look like a nice alternative to the later model original ones. Probably the only option now really if you smash an original. Would these LED ones let you have the reversing option - the orange indicator parts coming on when you reverse - or not?

I have another style of LED fitted less than 12 months ago and with some help from the forum and fitment of diodes, yes, the twin amber lights can be used as reverse lights.  I also had to fit a different flasher can or relay unit, as the new led's do not draw enough current to activate the original.  Does not affect flasher unit when led's are fitted to trailer (as was the intended use) as the vehicle incandescent lamps still draw enough current to activate the flasher relay.

Do a search on previous post using led lights as a search word.  I think August 06, 2007 was one post regarding this.

I replaced my globes with "dual filament" LED globes, I'd already fitted an electronic flasher can so thats all I had to do. Reverse lights are a lot brighter than the old ones.
